About Me -

My name is Courtney, and I am a stay at home mom who loves her job of being a mother!   But, sometimes I need a creative outlet. I have always enjoyed "crafting", but my real love has been sculpting and painting.

I have sculpted with several different kinds of clay, but found that I really enjoy the flexability of polymer clays and pottery clays. I don't like to work with molds, so every project that I have done has been a one-of-a-kind piece. I sculpt animals, silly faces, terrain for miniatures, and have done quite a few plaques and signs. I have an acute attention to detail that has given me the reputation for being a perfectionist.

I have no formal training in painting, except a lifetime of learning and experience that has taught me what to do, or in some cases, what not to do! I have used acrylic paints and oil paints. I have painted on canvas, wood, mailboxes, walls, and just about anything that was put in front of me. I have done several portraits of family members, and I have painted reproductions of old photographs. I love detail work, and as a result, I paint miniature battle figures as well. I paint free hand, and I only use stencils if I absolutely must.  Most stencils do not allow you to paint what you really want, and so I prefer to paint without that structure.

I am addicted to reading and gardening. As a result, a lot of my projects are inspired from the books I read or nature. I will often take a picture of clouds or leaves just for the fun of remembering the shape, form, or color of something that caught my eye. I love the textures and patterns found in nature, and the challenge of recreating them. After all, who creates better than mother nature!

I love seeing the face of someone who I have just completed a project for! And I love hearing their ideas! The process of collaberating with someone to get the best result is fun and exciting.  It gets the creative juices flowing, and results in an even better project!
